NEW HAVEN, CT — On October 15, 2025, New Haven police officers responded to the intersection of Ella T. Grasso Boulevard and Goffe Terrace following reports of a child struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

When police arrived, they met the victims: a couple and their two children.

The family told police that "while crossing Goffe Terrace at the crosswalk over Grasso Boulevard, a silver sedan collided with the stroller carrying their children."

The impact caused serious but non-life-threatening injuries to one of the children, a 7-year-old, and the driver fled following the collision.

The case was assigned to Crash Reconstruction Unit Officer Michael Rubino, who developed probable cause to arrest Tymel Barker, 28, of New Haven, according to police spokesperson Officer Christian Bruckhart.

Barker's warrant is currently outstanding.
