Weapons Cache Found During New Haven Renovation

Several guns including an AK-47 were found during environmental rehabilitation at a future apartment site.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Developers knew they were going to find radium, asbestos lead and other toxic chemicals during the rehabilitation of the Clock Shop Lofts project, but they uncovered something unexpected.

An AK-47, sawed-off shotgun, Hi-point 9mm rifle and other weapons were found underneath the floorboards during environmental rehabilitation, according to the New Haven Independent.

Workers contacted police who are investigating.

The project on Hamilton Street hit another legal snag Feb. 20 after the owner of Scores strip club filed an appeal over a housing court ruling that would force the club to vacate the premises.
