West Haven 19-Year-Old Shot In New Haven Friday Night: Police

The teen was shot on Dixwell Avenue at around 6:30 p.m. and was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 19-year-old West Haven man was shot in New Haven early Friday night, police said.

At around 6:30 p.m., police got a Shotspotter alert to gunfire, and a 911 call about a person shot, on Dixwell Avenue between Henry and Munson streets, spokesperson Scott Shumway said. When cops got there, they found the teen, who'd been struck by gunfire. He was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Shumway said.

Detectives from the New Haven Police Department Major Crimes Unit are leading the investigation.
