West Haven Girl, 16, Shot On New Years Day In New Haven: Police

At around 2 a.m., police got a call that a person who'd been struck by gunfire walked into the hospital. She's listed in stable condition.

NEW HAVEN, CT —A 16-year-old girl who'd been shot on Chapel Street, walked into Yale New Haven Hospital Saint Raphael Campus after midnight on New Year's Day, police said.

The West Haven teen was shot between Temple and College Streets, New Haven police spokesperson Scott Shumway said.

At around 2 a.m., police got a call that a person who'd been struck by gunfire walked into the Saint Raphael campus suffering from a gunshot wound. She was later taken to Yale New Haven Hospital's main campus. She's listed in stable condition, Shumway said.

New Haven Police Major Crimes detectives are investigating.
