West Haven Man, 28, Killed In Overnight New Haven Crash: Police

Christian Sanchez-Martinez died as a result of injuries from the 1 a.m. two-car crash on Middletown Avenue, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT — In the early morning hours Friday, a two-car crash on Middletown Avenue claimed the life of a 28-year-old West Haven man, police said.

The 1 a.m. crash between Flint and Ellis streets involved a brown Nissan Murano and a white Toyota Scion, according to New Haven police spokesperson Scott Shumway.

Officers found the driver of the Scion, Christian Sanchez-Martinez of West Haven, suffering from life-threatening-injuries after he had been ejected from the car, Shumway said. He was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital where he "succumbed to his injuries," Shumway said.

The New Haven Police Crash Team responded to the scene and is leading the investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
