'Wet Willy' Incident Puts New Haven Teacher on Leave: Report

A teacher allegedly encouraged students to give a girl a "wet willy," according to the girl's mother.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A 4th-grade teacher at Wexler-Grant School is on administrative leave after he allegedly encouraged students to wake another with a "wet willy."

The girl's mother, Candace Cherry reported the incident and hopes to see the teacher suspended or fired, according to the New Haven Register.

A wet willy involves spitting one one's finger and swirling it in the ear of another person, often as a prank.

Cherry said the teacher told her he was only joking when he said to give the girl a wet willy. City officials confirmed an incident at the school is under investigation and that the matter was referred to the Department of Children and Families.
