Woman Jogging In New Haven Assaulted By Armed Man: Police

A man assaulted a 38-year-old woman who was on a run in New Haven on Thursday morning.

NEW HAVEN, CT — A woman was assaulted Thursday morning while she was jogging in New Haven. The 38-year-old woman was in the area of Yale and Edgewood Avenues at 6:15 a.m. when an unknown man approached and brandished a gun, according to police.

The man then tried to force her into a nearby wooded area and struck her in the face.

The victim managed to escape and return home. The suspect fled into Edgewood Park.

The victim was treated by American Medical Response personnel for minor injuries.

Police used K9 units to search the area but could not locate the suspect.

Special Victims Unit detectives spoke with witnesses and were looking for surveillance video from the area. The investigation is ongoing and police are attempting to determine the motive for the assault.
