Yale New Haven Hospital EMS Awards Recognize Local Firefighters, EMTs
Held during National EMS Week, a number of New Haven-based EMS were honored including firefighters, EMTs, a telecommunicator and instructor.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Tuesday, the Yale New Haven Hospital Center for EMS held its annual celebration, during National EMS Week.
During the ceremony, EMS professionals are recognized for individual awards. And many are from New Haven or New Haven-based.
Tele-Communicator of the Year: Nicole Girardi, an Emergency Medical dispatcher with AMR New Haven

Paramedic Field Instructor of the Year: Michael Violano, a Paramedic/ Paramedic Field Instructor with AMR New Haven
Firefighters, EMTs were also honored for Cardiac Arrest Saves, of which some were able to meet the patients they saved.

New Haven Fire Department: Kendall Richardson, Tom Carey, Julian Murillo, Louis Bosley, and Jesse Wollensack.
American Medical Response New Haven: Abbigail Hanson, Clinton Garcia, Lena Blumenthal, Keila Morales, Jenna Jennings, Travis White-Velez, Ashley Helstowski, Rebecca Holmwood, Raymond Guard, Vian Guevara-Cragwell, and Joe Lester.
Yale-New Haven Hospital Center for EMS provides training, education, and oversight for both aspiring and current emergency medical services providers.
The Hospital of Saint Raphael (HSR) and Yale-New Haven Hospital (YNHH) have provided education and oversight to the emergency medical services (EMS) system in the South Central Connecticut region since its inception in the 1970’s. In 1989 they created New Haven Sponsor Hospital Program (NHSHP) to continue this mission as a joint venture due to some legislative changes.
The YNHSHP currently provides medical oversight for Allingtown Fire District, American Medical Response (New Haven), Bethany Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance, Branford Fire Department, East Haven Fire Department, Guilford Fire Department, Hamden Fire Department, Madison Emergency Medical Services, Madison Hose Company No. 1, Madison Police Department, Nelson Ambulance Service, New Haven Fire Department, Yale New Haven Sponsor Hospital Area Response Physicians (SHARP) Team, North Branford Police Department, North Branford Volunteer Fire Department, North Haven Fire Department, North Madison Volunteer Fire Company, Orange Police Department, West Haven Fire Department Center District, West Shore Fire District, Woodbridge Police Department, Woodbridge Volunteer Fire Department, and Yale Student EMS as well as providing emergency medical training for EMS providers, 911 dispatchers, allied health professionals, and the community.
