Yale New Haven Hospital Expects $500 Million In Losses

Responding to the challenges of the coronavirus will strain the hospital system's finances.

NEW HAVEN, CT — Yale New Haven Hospital has restored 30 percent of its pre-coronavirus services as hospitalizations for the virus have decreased, according to NBC CT. At peak, 472 patients were hospitalized for COVD-19, a number that has dropped to 182 patients.

A hospital official said that at the end of the year, the hospital system may end up at a $500 million operating loss. Yale New Haven did receive $200 million in federal relief funds via the CARES Act, NBC CT reported.

The hospital has also played a significant role in testing and hopes to be doing 10,000 tests per day at the end of June.
