Each year, on the first Friday in February, people across the country “Wear Red” in order to help raise and spread awareness for the prevention of women’s heart disease.
It is the number one killer of women, causing one in five deaths each year. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for African American and white women in the United States, killing more women than all forms of cancer combined.
The YNHH Heart and Vascular Center treats more heart and vascular patients than any facility in Connecticut and performs virtually all cardiac and vascular procedures available worldwide. Our Heart and Vascular Patient Care Support Fund was established to support cardiac patients and staff with enhanced treatment and education. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we can deliver holistic therapies for patients and education for staff that helps advance their knowledge and technical skills.
