Yale Settles Lawsuit Over Annie Le Murder

Le's family argued that women at the school weren't properly protected, something Yale denied.

NEW HAVEN, CT—Yale University settled a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of Annie Le, the graduate student who was found dead in a wall at the school.

The school settled for $3 million, according to the Chronicle of Higher Education. The lawsuit was settled through mediation.

Le's body was found in September 2009 on the day of her scheduled wedding and five days after she went missing, according to the New Haven Register. Animal research technician Raymond Clark III pleaded guilty to murdering her and is serving a 44-year prison term.

The case drew massive and frantic national media coverage. At one point an NBC producer was trampled while attending a short police briefing where no new news was divulged, according to the New Haven Independent.

Le's family alleged that Yale failed to protect women on campus, something that Yale denied.
