2 Hartford Men Charged In Newington Liquor Store Holdup: Police

The suspects made off with both cash and alcohol in last week's robbery.

NEWINGTON/HARTFORD, CT — Two Hartford men have been charged in connection with an armed robbery at a Newington package store late last month.

According to the Newington Police Department Thursday, the two suspects taken into custody Monday and Wednesday were:

• Devon Kempson-Cook, 37, of Hartford, who was charged Monday with first-degree robbery; conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery; third-degree larceny; conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny; and criminal use of a weapon.

He is expected to appear in New Britain Superior court Sept. 23.

• Stevelen Snowden, 42, of Hartford, who was charged Wednesday with first-degree robbery; conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery; third-degree larceny; and conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny.

He is slated to appear in New Britain Superior Court Sept. 25.

Newington police said on Thursday, Aug. 29, at about 8:49 p.m., officers were called to the Country Package Store, 256 Hartford Ave., for a reported armed robbery.

Police said it was reported two males entered the store, with one pointing a firearm at the clerk during the incident.

Money and quantities of alcohol were taken, according to the NPD.
