NEWINGTON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Eastern's annual graduation ceremony was held at the XL Center in Hartford on May 15, with more than 12,000 family members and friends cheering on their sons and daughters, brothers and sisters, as 1,105 undergraduates and 85 graduate students received their diplomas. Graduates from Newington were:
  Michael Davies, Bachelor of Science in Sport & Leisure Management; Kimberly Tallard, Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Communication; Allison Marino, Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology; Jena Cardoso, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics; Nicholas Capone, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration; and Marlene Suarez, Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Criminology.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

• Andrew Deguzis of Newington graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science from Western New England University during the Saturday, May 19, 2018 commencement ceremonies. Deguzis was among more than 700 students who received degrees from 30 states and seven countries. The top five fields of study were Mechanical Engineering, Criminal Justice, Accounting, Pharmacy Studies, and Psychology.
