NEWINGTON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Bob Jones University, Greenville SC

• Rachel Nichols of Newington joined other new students as Bob Jones University hosted summer orientation in June. Incoming students and their parents attended informational sessions about the BJU experience, had the opportunity to ask questions regarding academics, financial aid and student life and became familiar with the campus. Additionally, students had the opportunity to connect with other new students, current students and faculty.

East Carolina University, Greenville NC

• Gary-Jeffrey Harter of Newington graduated with a BSBA-Finance from East Carolina University during spring commencement exercises May 4 in Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium. Harter was one of 5,479 graduates who received degrees.

University of Rhode Island, Kingston RI

• At the University of Rhode Island's 132nd Commencement on Saturday and Sunday, May 19-20, 2018, about 3,300 undergraduate and 750 graduate students became the University's newest alumni. Mariah T. Mendes of Newington received a Bachelor of Science, Nursing Magna Cum Laude. Students who received the honor of magna cum laude graduated with a GPA of at least 3.50.
