Berger Blisters TPC Course to Take 3-Stroke Lead at Travelers Championship

Six players are within six shots of the lead heading into Sunday's final round at Connecticut's PGA Tour stop in Cromwell.

CROMWELL, CT — Saturday is known as "Moving Day" during PGA Tour events, and no one made a stronger move during the third round of the Travelers Championship than Daniel Berger.

The 23-year-old Florida State University product, the 2015 Rookie of the Year scorched the TPC River Highlands with an 8-under par 62, assuming a three-shot lead at 15-under heading into Sunday's final round.

Berger fired a 3-under par 32 on the front nine Saturday, then lit up the back nine with five birdies in an eight-hole stretch for a 30 to distance himself from the pack.

He is attempting to secure his second victory of the season, following his win at the FedEx St. Jude Classic in June.

Second round co-leaders Tyrone Van Aswegen and Russell Henley each shot 65 to move into a three-way tie for second at 12-under with Scotsman Russell Knox, who posted a 64 Saturday.

Patrick Rodgers is at 10-under, while Brooks Koepka and 2015 runnerup Paul Casey are within six shots of the lead at 9-under.

The final pairing, Berger and Knox, tee off Sunday at 2 p.m. CBS Sports will televise the final round live from 3-6 p.m.
