Medicaid, Burial Costs, and Final Arrangements: What You Need to Know

RSVP with the event link.
This practical webinar brings together experienced professionals in advance planning and Connecticut Medicaid/Title 19 guidance to help solo agers approach these important decisions for themselves—or while caring for an aging parent—with greater confidence and clarity.
Participants will learn how thoughtful advance planning can support personal wishes, preserve independence, improve preparedness, and reduce stress for loved ones. The discussion will also clarify the administrative steps involved in Medicaid eligibility and applications for long-term care services.

What You’ll Learn

Why advance planning can document and support your final wishes and give your family peace of mind.

Ways to prepare for long-term care while maintaining control and independence.

The role of Medicaid-compliant final expense and funeral trusts.

Core considerations in Connecticut Medicaid/Title 19 eligibility and applications.

How organized documentation and professional coordination can reduce delays and stress.

Where non-attorney guidance ends and legal counsel may be needed.

Who should attend?

Solo agers and anyone planning for their own future, caring for an aging parent, or seeking a clearer understanding of final-arrangement planning and Connecticut Medicaid support. Anyone in this situation who seeks to learn more about these topics in Connecticut or in general.
Presenters are Brian J. Cimbak of JG Advance Planning and Akua Okyere, CEO of Compass Title19 Consultants LLC.
Brian is a Connecticut native, licensed funeral director with more than 15 years of industry experience, and a licensed insurance consultant. He has helped countless families establish Medicaid-compliant final expense and funeral trusts, the best way to consider asset protection in long-term or nursing home situations, and plan final arrangements with careful attention to detail.
Akua is an adult Medicaid/Title 19 operations and policy leader with extensive Connecticut Department of Social Services experience in eligibility, compliance, policy, program development, and operational management. Through Compass, a Connecticut-based non-attorney Medicaid consulting firm, she provides administrative support for HUSKY C, Long-Term Services & Supports, nursing home Medicaid, and Home and Community-Based Waiver applications.
