On Campus - Newington College Students

NEWINGTON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Lasell College, Newton MA

• Lasell College upset Wentworth Institute of Technology in a five-set men's volleyball match, 3-2, in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) regular-season finale at the Lasell Athletic Center. Junior libero Jordan Aprea of Newington contributed a career-high 23 digs, his fourth 20-plus dig performance this season.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

• Emily Molstad of Newington, a member of the class of 2019 majoring in mechanical engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), was a member of a student team that recently completed an intense, hands-on research through the WPI project center in Bangkok. The project was titled Reducing Single-Use Plastic in a Thai School Community. In their project summary, the students wrote, " Partnered with the St. Joseph's Alumnae Association (SJAA), our project sought to gain an understanding of plastic use and develop methods to reduce plastic consumption in the St. Joseph Convent School (SJC) and its community." At WPI, all undergraduates are required to complete a research-driven, professional-level project that applies science and technology to addresses an important societal need or issue.
