NEWINGTON, CT — College students from Newington recently achieved these notable accomplishments, as reported by readMedia Newswire.

Union College, Schenectady NY

• Peter Richmond, of Newington, was named to the 2017 Dean's List at Union College. Richmond is a member of the Class of 2019, majoring in Electrical Engineering. To be named to the Dean's List, Union students must have a grade point average of 3.5 for the entire academic year and meet certain other requirements.

University of Hartford, West Hartford CT

• Julia Baiju of Newington is one of 15 physical therapy doctoral candidates at the University of Hartford who helped pioneer a unique exercise program for children with disabilities at Shriners Hospitals-Springfield in Massachusetts. The program, know as BFit is a power-based exercise program provided by Baiju, UHart Professor of Physical Therapy Mary Gannotti, classmates, and clinicians from Shriners.

University of Rhode Island, Kingston RI

• At the University of Rhode Island's 131st Commencement on Saturday and Sunday, May 20-21, 2017, about 2,600 undergraduate and 650 graduate degrees were awarded. The former students became the University's newest alumni. Kirsten Ashley Richmond of Newington received a Bachelor of Science, Mathematics.
