NEWINGTON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Goodwin College, East Hartford CT

  • Goodwin College's President's List for the summer 2017 session includes 225 students, all of whom scored a perfect 4.0 GPA. Among them were Newington residents Nicole de Haas, Nicole Hoyle, Stefanie Lord, Elease Paladino, Caroline Roy, Senem Sevimli, Kimberly Weintraub and Jessica Ziff.
  • Goodwin College announces that 731 students achieved Dean's List status for the summer 2017 session. Honorees from Newington were Nicole de Haas, Andrew Dempsey, Brian Hayes, Nicole Hoyle, John Johnson, Stefanie Lord, Elease Paladino, Brittany Puglise, Monica Rosado, Caroline Roy, Senem Sevimli, Samantha Strout, Kimberly Weintraub and Jessica Ziff. Dean's List inclusion requires a student to earn a minimum 3.5 GPA, the equivalent of an A- average, during a given academic session. The student must also be enrolled in a minimum of six academic credits to qualify.

Siena College, Loudonville NY

  • Six Siena women's tennis and two men's tennis players were named to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team. The women's program was also named an All-Academic Team. Senior Peter Galante of Newington was recognized as an All-Academic members for the second straight season. In order to earn ITA Scholar Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
