  • Jamie Zelek of Newington has been named to the Champlain College Dean's List for the fall 2016 semester. Students on the Dean's List have achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or higher during the semester. Zelek is majoring in Early Childhood/Elementary Education.

  • Keene State College announces that 1,400 students have been named to the fall 2016 dean's list, including Newington residents Lauren Koldras and Jeffrey Rossman.

Lasell College, Newton MA

  • Lasell College has announced the Dean's List for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2016-17 academic year. A student must earn a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher to receive Dean's List recognition. Among the students named to the Dean's List was Katelyn Dombrowski of Newington.

  • The Delta Beta Chapter of Kappa Beta Delta (KBD) at Tunxis Community College in Farmington announced the names of those students who have accepted membership in the business honor society. They were formally recognized on December 2 at the chapter’s induction ceremony. Among the honorees was Kristen Socha of Newington. KBD is an international honor society for students who are enrolled in colleges that are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The honor society was established to encourage and recognize scholarship and accomplishment in the pursuit and completion of studies in business, management and administration culminating in associate degree conferral. To be eligible for induction, a student must have completed 30 credit hours toward their associate degree in business administration and have attained a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or better.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

  • Stasha Greenalch from the basketball team has been honored as the WPI Female Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, Jan. 1. Greenalch played a role in all three of WPI wins over the holiday break, highlighted by being named to the WPI Holiday Tournament All-Tournament team. In the title contest, the junior posted 15 points, five rebounds and a pair of swipes as the Engineers bested Wesleyan 54-49 for the crown. Greenalch bookended that performance by coming off the bench and scoring six points in an explosive third quarter in a 51-44 road victory at Bates on Monday, Dec. 19. She finished with 12 points to go along with four steals, three assists and a steal.
