Car Burglars Arrested After Chase: Newington Police

Two teens, ages 16 and 15, were arrested after police said they ran from officers Sunday night in Newington.

NEWINGTON, CT — Two teens were arrested in connection with a car burglary Sunday night in Newington, according to police.

Police responded around 8 p.m. July 21 to Spruce Street on the report of a theft from a motor vehicle.

It was reported that two suspects wearing all black stole a garage door opener out of a vehicle that was parked in the driveway and left the area on foot, according to police.

Police said the two suspects were found on Cedar Street near Old Farm Drive. The suspects ran from officers and were apprehended a short distance away on Cedar Street, according to police.

Two juveniles, a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, were charged with third-degree burglary, conspiracy to commit third-degree burglary, and interfering with an officer.

Both teens were processed and released to their parents with a scheduled appearance at juvenile court, according to police.
