Ex-Swim Coach, 41, Caught In Newington To Face Voyeurism Charges

The Newington resident is reportedly a former West Hartford community center swimming coach.

NEWINGTON, CT — A local man and former swimming coach in West Hartford was taken into custody by federal and Newington law enforcers to face 19 separate voyeurism charges.

According to the Newington Police Department, David Laudati, 41, of Newington, was wanted in another state in connection with 11 counts of voyeurism and eight counts of attempt to commit voyeurism.

Police said he was apprehended at about 11:06 a.m. Monday by NPD and U.S. Marshals serving as part of the Connecticut Violent Fugitive Task Force.

According to the NPD, Laudati was wanted on an extraditable warrant from the State of Arizona (Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office).

Laudati was taken into custody by the NPD and officially charged with an extradition arrest.

He is being detained on a $500,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on Tuesday, July 30.

Newington police did not offer any additional details, but Fox 61 and other media reported that Laudati is the former swimming coach at the Mandell Jewish Community Center in West Hartford.

The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed Laudati was a swimming coach and said he was wanted in Maricopa County, Ariz., in connection with a September 2023 probe by the Buckeye Police Department.

Federal officials said Laudati was apprehended at a residence on East Robbins Street in Newington.

After appearing in court in Connecticut, he will be extradited to Arizona to face further charges, U.S. Marshals said in a statement.
