Glastonbury Man, 20, Dead After Crashing Into Bus In Newington: Police

Newington police are still investigating the accident, which happened late Friday night.

NEWINGTON, CT — Local police continue to investigate a crash between a car and bus Friday night that has now claimed the life of a 20-year-old Glastonbury man.

According to the Newington Police Department, which issued a release on the crash Monday afternoon, the victim is identified as Zachariah Berlepsch, 20, of Glastonbury.

The NPD said the accident happened at 11:18 p.m. on Friday night, Dec. 19 on East Cedar Street near Lowery Place.

Police said the accident involved a Honda Civic and a CT Transit bus.

The operator of the Honda was Berlepsch, who was transported to a local hospital but was later pronounced dead as a result of the injuries sustained from the accident, the NPD said.

According to police, the driver of the CT Transit bus sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital.

There were no reported injuries from the two passengers of the bus.

The Mid-State Accident Reconstruction Squad is currently leading the investigation, which is
active and ongoing.
