(NEWINGTON, CT) --- State Representative Gary Turco proudly announced that several major labor organizations are endorsing his re-election. In addition to appearing on the ballot as the Democratic candidate to represent the 27th Assembly District, he will also be listed on voters’ ballots as the Working Families Party’s endorsed candidate.
To date, Turco has received endorsements from the following labor organizations: Connecticut AFL-CIO, AFT Connecticut, SEUI Local 511—CEUI, and Connecticut State Building Trades. With Connecticut’s Working Families Party’s endorsement, 27th District voters will have the option of voting for Turco on either the Democratic or WFP ballot line.
“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of so many working people across our state,” Turco said. “Many of the folks represented by these organizations have been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been my honor to stand up for the issues that matter to them, including fair compensation, affordable healthcare, workplace safety, and equitable workplace policies.”
In his first term, Turco has been a staunch advocate for policies that help Connecticut’s working families. Turco co-sponsored bills creating Connecticut’s new Family and Medical Leave program and increasing the state’s minimum wage to $15 by 2023.
“Over my past two years at the State Capitol, Newington’s working families have counted on me to be their voice, and I’ve delivered for them,” Turco said. “I’m asking for their vote once again so that I can continue to advocate for them in Hartford.”
