Local Businesses Support Wounded Military with Keepsake Ornament Fundraiser

Purchase a beautiful keepsake ornament to support wounded/paraplegic service members.

Over its long history, Connecticut Insurance Exchange has given more than $150,000 to charity. So, it’s no surprise they created a holiday fundraising event to help our wounded military.

Last year, Connecticut Insurance Exchange asked clients and friends to decorate their lobby Christmas tree with patriotic-themed ornaments and make a donation. The project raised $3,100 towards the cost of a $17,000 track chair, which provides greater mobility for wounded, paraplegic veterans. This year, they’ve taken it up a notch by offering a keepsake ornament donors can get for their own tree.

“Starting December 3rd, we are offering a beautiful keepsake ornament for five dollars. 100% of the money we raise will go toward the track chair program run by The Independence Fund, a nonprofit organization, which helps our nation’s wounded heroes obtain greater independence. To further our commitment, Connecticut Insurance Exchange will provide a matching donation for every ornament purchased,” explains Connecticut Insurance Exchange Vice President Melanie Tregoning.

“I was very excited to have Elaine’s, Rooster Company and TJ’s on Cedar partner with us for this worthy program. Our wounded heroes deserve our respect and help. As an insurance agency, we are in the business of helping people become whole again, so charity is a natural extension of our philosophy,” added Tregoning. “It is our honor to give back to the men and women who gave so much for our freedom.”
