Man Stole $8K Worth Of Items From Newington Town Building: Police

The accused was charged on a warrant and is being held on bond, police said.

NEWINGTON, CT — Local police said they have charged a suspect believed to have been behind the December 2021 burglary of the town's parks and grounds garage and the theft of tools there.

Newington police said Wednesday they have charged Thomas P. Sullivan, 29, no address available, with third-degree burglary and third-degree larceny.

According to police, Sullivan was arrested after the issuance of an arrest warrant on Aug. 31.

Sullivan is currently being held on a $5,000 court set bond, according to police.

Police said the arrest came after an "extensive investigation into a burglary that occurred at the Newington Parks and Grounds Garage" on Dec. 17, 2021.

Police said detectives were able to uncover evidence linking Sullivan to the burglary of tools belonging to the Town of Newington.

Among those tools were chainsaws, backpack blowers, pole trimmers and other miscellaneous tools valued at over $8,000, according to police.
