Newington Auto Parts Store Workers Shot, Montville Man In Custody
The shooting was reported off the Berlin Turnpike Sunday night.

NEWINGTON, CT — A male shooting victim is fighting for his life in an area hospital after being shot by a suspect at an O'Reilly's Auto Parts store Sunday evening.
In an updated statement Monday afternoon, the Newington Police Department said the male victim is in critical condition while a pregnant female victim is in stable condition. Both victims are store employees.
Meanwhile, the suspect — identified as Montville resident Sherod Aldon Hackett, 24 — has been released from the hospital and has been formally charged by police in the incident.

He was to be arraigned this afternoon in New Britain Superior Court, police said. Bond is set at $1.5 million dollars.
Newington police said his charges are as follows:
• First-degree assault of a pregnant person
• First-degree assault.
• First-degree robbery.
• Carrying a pistol without a permit.
• First-degree reckless endangerment.
• Sixth-degree larceny.

Reportedly, police were called to the Newington O'Reilly's Auto Parts store at about 6 p.m. Sunday evening on the Berlin Turnpike.
