Man Charged With Making Threats at Newington Meeting
A witness told police the man entered a town council meeting saying he was going to kill people.

NEWINGTON, CT — A local man was arrested Tuesday night after police were informed he had made threats to kill people upon entering a town council meeting.
William Gardner, 52, was charged with second-degree breach of peace. He was released on a $5,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in New Britain Superior Court on April 17.
Around 7 p.m., police officers were summoned to the meeting at the town hall for a complaint of a resident creating a disturbance. The resident, Gardner, was escorted outside by an officer assigned to the meeting, Sgt. Christopher Perry said.

After Gardner left the area, a witness came forward and reported they heard Gardner make threats to kill people as he was entering the meeting. Officers located Gardner and he was taken into custody without incident, Perry said.
