  • Eastern Connecticut State University recently released the names of 10 full-time students from Newington who were named to the Dean's List for the fall 2017 semester. They are, with majors: Michael Davies, Sport & Leisure Management; Cheyenne Fletcher, Health Sciences and Business Administration; Madison Lewicki, Exploratory STEM; Allison Marino, Psychology; Bradley Mitchel, Economics; Lauren Rioux, Pre-Early Childhood Education and Environmental Earth Science; Brianna Simonetti, Pre-Elementary Education and English; Marlene Suarez, Sociology and Criminology; Kimberly Tallard, Communication; and Michael Vesci, Business Administration.

Roger Williams University, Bristol RI

  • Six students from Newington have been named to the fall 2017 Dean's List at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester. Local honorees are Kayla LaRosa, Corinda Sanford, Zachary Saunders, Gregory Stamm, Kirsten Valade and Megan Willgoos.

University of Delaware, Newark DE

  • Emily Evon and Alyssa Depaolis of Newington have been named to the University of Delaware Dean's List for the fall 2017 semester. To meet eligibility requirements for the Dean's List, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.

University of Rhode Island, Kingston RI

  • The University of Rhode Island is pleased to announce that 5,500 undergraduates have qualified for the fall 2017 Dean's List. The students represent nearly all of Rhode Island's cities and towns, all six New England states, New York and New Jersey, and many other states and nations. To be included on the Dean's List, students must have completed 12 or more credits during a semester for letter grades with at least a 3.30 quality point average. Part-time students qualify with the accumulation of 12 credits with a 3.30 quality point average. The list includes students who have not yet declared their majors as well as those from all of the University's undergraduate academic colleges. Honorees from Newington are Shaylynn Frazon, Samuel Lostocco, Mariah Mendes, Amber Rehberg and Victoria Ruskys.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

  • Four Newington residents were among 1,608 students from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) named to the university's Dean's List for academic excellence for the fall 2017 semester: Riley McManus, a member of the class of 2018 majoring in civil engineering; Jillian Forauer, a member of the class of 2021 majoring in engineering; David Giangrave, a member of the class of 2019 majoring in interactive media and game development, and computer science; and Emily Molstad, a member of the class of 2019 majoring in mechanical engineering. The criteria for the WPI Dean's List differs from most other universities as WPI does not compute a grade point average (GPA). Instead, WPI defines the Dean's List by the amount of work completed at the A level in courses and projects.
