NEW BRITAIN, CT — A New Britain man has been found guilty by a jury of sexually assaulting a little girl when she was between the ages of five and seven years old, according to a Tuesday news release from the Office of the State's Attorney.

Evidence at the trial showed that after the girl disclosed the abuse, the man, 48-year-old Shanti Buchko, threatened to shoot two people "involved in the disclosure," officials said.

Buchko's other charges include risk of injury to a minor and threatening in the first degree, according to officials.

"We wish the victims well in their continued healing from the great harm inflicted upon them by Mr. Buchko over the years," Senior Assistant State’s Attorney David Clifton and Assistant State’s Attorney Alison Kubas, who prosecuted the case, said in the news release.

Buchko's sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 10 in New Britain Superior Court, according to officials.
