Newington Businesses Targeted By Scam
The scam encouraged people to dial a bogus Eversource number.
NEWINGTON, CT —Several area businesses were targeted by scammers who said Eversource would shut off their electricity if they didn't immediately make a payment.
The scam urged businesses to call 800-203-1872. The real Eversource number is 800-286-2000.
Newington Police remind business owners and residents that most utility bills are generally sent through USPS and not over the phone.
