Newington Council Fires Town Manager

The town council voted to fire the town manager in a meeting last week.

NEWINGTON, CT — The Town Council voted 6-3 to fire Town Manager Tanya Lane at a closed-door executive session meeting Thursday, The Hartford Courant reported. The reasons for the firing were not publicly discussed.

The council then approved a six-month contract to rehire former town manager Keith Chapman while the council begins the search for a replacement.

Council members did not discuss why Lane was removed so abruptly, who served in the position for almost four years after 13 years as town clerk.
