Newington Greater Together Community Fund Announces Open Call
Letters of interest will be welcomed until March 2 for projects directly benefiting the Newington community.

In 2019, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving established $100,000 community funds for each of the 29 towns in the Foundation’s region, which includes the town of Newington. The purpose of the community funds is to support residents in taking ownership around the needs in their towns, encourage broad and inclusive civic engagement and anchor the Hartford Foundation in each town. In 2020, the Newington Community Fund Advisory Committee was created. hfpg.org/newingtoncf

Newington’s Community Fund Advisory Committee is pleased to announce the release of its first open call for Letters of Intent (LOIs) for funding programs that will improve or enhance the quality of life of Newington or otherwise contribute to solving a direct need of the Newington community. A total of $25,000 in grant funds will be awarded in the first round of grantmaking, with a maximum grant award of $5,000. All projects must benefit the residents of Newington. Any nonprofit registered as a 501c3 organization that serves the residents of Newington is eligible to submit. Letters of Intent will be accepted until March 2, 2021 and organizations who meet the established criteria will receive information on the application process in mid-March. Grants will be awarded in early June 2021.

The community fund program also creates an opportunity for organizations and individuals to make tax-deductible contributions to the Newington Community Fund to support the town of Newington. All donations are welcome both large and small.
