Newington Man Caught With 350 Bags Of Heroin: Report

A traffic stop on Monday morning led to police seizing a variety of drugs, a report says.

V ERNON, CT — A traffic stop near the Exit 66 interchange with Interstate-84 early Monday morning led to police seizing a variety of drugs — including more than 300 bags of heroin — a report indicates.

The stop, prompted by an "equipment violation," on an Acura, took place on Whitney T. Ferguson III Road at 1:28 a.m., according to a report.

The report adds that the driver, 30-year-old Jonathan Correa, of Newington, consented to a search and police uncovered:

  • 8.5 grams of "raw" heroin
  • 7.4 grams of crack cocaine
  • 3.9 grams of powder form cocaine
  • 34.5 bundles, or 350 bags, of heroin
  • 21 Oxycondone pills
  • 7.5 ecstacy pills
  • A "large" amount of cash
  • Multiple cell phones
  • A butterfly knife

Correa was charged with:

  • Operating a drug factory
  • Possessing a controlled substance within 1,500 feet of a school (4 counts)
  • Narcotics possession with the intent to sell
  • The use of drug paraphernalia
  • Possessing a controlled substance (4 counts)
  • Possessing a weapon in a motor vehicle
  • Carrying a dangerous weapon
  • A license plate violation
  • A lane violation

Correa was held overnight on a $250,000 bond and was to appear in court later on Monday, police said.
