Newington Man's Car Stolen At Gunpoint: Police

The Newington Police Department Monday said it is seeking the public's help solving the crime, which was reported Saturday morning.

NEWINGTON, CT — Local police are seeking the public's help in tracking down a suspect responsible for a car theft at gunpoint in town Saturday.

According to the NPD, the robbery occurred on Saturday at 4:15 a.m.

Police said the victim reported to responding officers that he was warming up his white Toyota Rav 4 in his driveway on Saddle Hill Road when he was approached by a male suspect wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt and dark pants.

The suspect pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded the keys to the vehicle, according to police.

The victim provided the keys and was not injured in the incident.

The male suspect left the scene driving the victim's Rav 4 and was followed by a red sedan.

Neighboring departments reported several convenience and gas stations were either robbed or burglarized by individuals operating the Rav 4 after the Newington incident.

The Rav 4 was located and seized by police in the City of Hartford on Monday.
