
Carl A. Day, 92, of Newington passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2017, at Hartford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Shirley (Ouellette) Day, who preceded him in death by only three weeks.
Born in Skowhegan Maine to the late Floyd and Mona (Smith) Day and grew up in Princeton Maine. Carl joined the United States Navy on July 15, 1943 and served in WWII before marrying the love of his life Shirley. He went on to work for USPS and after retiring, he went on to work as a bus driver for the Newington School System.
Carl was a member of the VFW, American Legion and New Britain Quartet Club, where he loved spending time with all the members. Carl loved the Boston Red Sox, golfing, hunting as well as fishing.

Carl leaves behind his son Peter and his wife Sue of Rocky Hill, as well as two grandchildren Casey and Josh Day, who love their grandfather very much. Besides his lovely wife Shirley, he was predeceased by Glendon Day who was killed in action in WWII and four other brothers and a sister.
Funeral services for Carl will be held at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave. Newington, on Nov. 18 at 11:30 a.m. He will be lovingly laid to rest next to his wife Shirley in West Meadow Cemetery with Military Honors.
