Newington Obituary: Clara Bloch, 95

Clara M. (Kozyra) Bloch, of Newington, died peacefully on her 95th birthday, June 20, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Bloch for over 54 years.

Born and raised in Hartford, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Ostrowski) Kozyra, she was a Newington resident for most of her life. Mrs. Bloch was a member of St. Mary's Church. She was a compassionate mother, who listened to your problems and never judged. Her love was unconditional and she will be sorely missed.

A devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she leaves three sons, John Bloch of West Hartford, Edward Bloch and his wife Jan of Waterbury, and Joseph Bloch of Northampton, MA; her daughter Eileen Bloch; grandchildren Aimee, Lisa, Lauren and her husband Dave, Darren and his wife Lindsay, Colleen and Lynn; and four great grandchildren. She also leaves her sister Regina Machernis of Windsor Locks; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her grandson John Bloch, Jr., and her beloved son-in-law Delbert Cornell.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, June 24, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Newington. She will be laid to rest with her husband in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington.
