Newington Obituary: Doloros LaChapelle, 87

Doloros E. “Dolly” (LaPiano) LaChapelle, 87, formerly of Newington and Hartford, beloved wife of the late Gerard J. LaChapelle, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2017.

Dolly was born on October 11, 1929 in Hartford and was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Anne (Kearns) LaPiano. Dolly grew up and spent most of her life in Hartford. She was a graduate of Bulkeley High School and enjoyed a long career as an Administrative Assistant at the Travelers Insurance Company, retiring in 1987. At the Travelers, she made many lifelong friends and enjoyed being a part of the Travelers Woman’s Club.

Dolly was a faithful communicant of St. Augustine Church of Hartford. She enjoyed spending summers camping at Hammonasset State Park with family and visiting York Beach in Maine.

Dolly (Nana) was extremely devoted to her family, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren; Stephen Drew, Jeffery Drew, Erin Bergeron, Daniel LaChapelle and Brian LaChapelle, and they will miss her very much. Dolly also leaves her beloved son, Robert and his wife Diane as well as her five great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and sisters, Dolly was predeceased by her daughter, Patricia A. (LaChapelle) Drew.

Calling hours will be held on Friday (March 24) from 9-10 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield with a Prayer Service at 10 a.m. Burial will immediately follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford.
