Newington Obituary: Dorothea Morrison, 93

Dorothea Morrison, 93, of Bloomfield, died on Friday, June 10, 2016. 

She was born in New York City to the late Ruth (Guttentag) and James H. Morrison. Dorothea graduated from the nursing school at New Britain General Hospital with a RN degree. She worked at McCook Memorial Hospital in Hartford for 7 years and then became a head nurse at New Britain Memorial Hospital. Dorothea then furthered her education at NYU graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing in 1960 and her Masters Degree in Nursing Services in 1961. She then continued her career as the Assistant Director of Nursing at Middlesex Memorial Hospital in Middletown. Dorothea then became the Director of Nursing at Samaritan Hospital in NY and retired as Vice President of Nursing Services at Wyandotte General Hospital in Michigan.

In her leisure time, Dorothea enjoyed playing bridge and knitting sweaters for her extended family. 

She is survived by her nieces and nephews Raymond T. Hall, Jr. and his wife, Odeida of New Rochelle, NY, James M. Hall of Bristol, Ruth Bland and her husband, Edward of Anderson, SC and twins, Margaret E. Hall of FL, and Patricia A. Szafir and her husband, David of Ellington; as well as several great nieces and nephews. 

A Memorial Service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 124 Maple Hill Ave, Newington, on Saturday, June 18, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will be held in the Memorial Garden at Grace Episcopal Church.
