Newington Obituary: Edward Chamberland, 79

Condolences to his family and friends.

Edward J. Chamberland, 79, a resident of Newington passed away on August 31, 2016, at his home with his family at his side.

Born on October 13, 1936, in St. Agatha, ME, Edward was the son of the late Simone and Weeda (Couturier) Chamberland and the beloved husband of Cecile (Corriveau) Chamberland for 60 years. Edward was a talented carpenter and dedicated countless hours of his time in the residential building industry. He was a communicant of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Newington and a member of the Westfield Volunteer Fire Department.

A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed following the Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox and his grandson's baseball games and practices. When not working, Edward could be found duckpin bowling or playing cards, especially setback and Charlemagne.

Besides his beloved wife, Cecile of Newington, Edward is survived by his son Keith Chamberland and his wife Julie, his daughter Kim Chamberland and her companion Kinte Barnes, all of Newington, his grandchildren Amanda, Christina, Briana, Dylan and Joseph, and great grandchildren, Benjamin and Elijah. He is also survived by his brother Philip and his wife Rena of TN, and sisters, Gladys Cloukey of New Britain, Jeanine Maagero and her husband Norman of MA, Aline Charette of NH, and Pauline Plourde of Plainville. He also leaves many members of the Corriveau family whom he loved and adored.

Funeral services for Edward will begin on Saturday, September 3, at 8:45 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Newington at 10:00 a.m. Burial in St. Mary's Cemetery will be held at a later date. Relatives and friends may call on Edward's family on Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Newington Memorial.
