Newington Obituary: Eldon Albert, 87

Eldon Lionel Albert, 87, of Newington, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital with his family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Marjorie (Goodwin) Albert, for 57 years.

Born in Madawaska, ME, he graduated from Madawaska High School in 1948 and moved to Newington in 1961. Eldon served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked at Hamilton Standard and retired from the former General Elevator Corp, after 17 years of employment.

Eldon was a member of St. Mary's Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Legion of Mary. He was active in the Retreat League at the Holy Family Monastery in Farmington and served as former president of the New Britain Curia Legion of Mary. Eldon enjoyed fishing, telling stories (especially about how big those fish were) and researching genealogy.

Besides his beloved wife, Marjorie, he leaves his daughter and son-in-law Mary Lou and Brian Szekeres and their two daughters Jessica and Leah of Millington, NJ, his brother Gilbert Albert and his wife Carol of Huntington Beach, CA, two sisters Therese Albert of Bangor, ME, Kathleen Audibert of Hampden, ME and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his brother Edwin Albert, two sisters Dolores Albert and Carmen Deschenes and a brother-in-law James Goodwin and his wife Merece.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, 9:00 a.m., from Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary's Church. He will be laid to rest, with military honors, in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Newington Memorial.
