Newington Obituary: Emily Galecki, 95

Condolences to her family and friends.

Emily M. "Mickey" Galecki, 95, of Newington died Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at the Jerome Home in New Britain.

Born in New Britain on February 24, 1922, daughter of the late Waclaw & Monica (Sutula) Galecki, Mickey was a graduate of New Britain High School. She was employed with Fafnir Bearing Company in New Britain and Newington before retiring after 43 years of dedicated service.

Mickey loved to spend time at the beach, travel, read, and dance; any tune by Frank Sinatra would do. But her true joy came from caring for her family, particularly her nieces and nephews and eventually their children, and the following generation as well. Aunt Mickey was always there for "the kids". Whether taking them to the movies or on a trip; to an amusement park, shopping or spending time reading to them; listening to their stories or sharing their secrets, Aunt Mickey was their constant cheerleader, standing at the ready whenever she was needed. And, of course, there was always the candy dish waiting on the table when one of them would stop by.
