Newington Obituary: Evelyn Carlson, 81

Evelyn Bergliot (Alvestad) Carlson, 81, of Newington, loving wife of the late Clinton G. Carlson, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, September 10, 2017.

Evelyn was born on July 26, 1936 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Otto and Bergliot (Mikkelsen) Alvestad. Evelyn was a graduate of East Hartford High School. She earned her Bachelors of Science from the University of Connecticut. She began her career as a Medical Technologist with Manchester Memorial Hospital.

On the weekends, she enjoyed spending time boating with her husband, family and friends. Evelyn had an extraordinary artistic talent and passion for ceramics, painting, and photography. Evelyn was a member of the Sons of Norway, a cultural club for which her parents helped organize the Hartford Lodge in 1964.

Evelyn leaves behind her daughter, Erika Douglas and her husband Darren of Canton; a brother Edward Alvestad and his wife Deborah of Granby; and her beloved granddaughters, Bethany and Haley Douglas. She also leaves nieces and nephews and their families.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11 AM in the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St. Rocky Hill. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 to 11 AM just prior to the service.
