Newington Obituary: Faye Karanian, 81

Condolences to her family and friends.

Faye "Holly" Karanian, daughter of the late George and Marian (Corcoran) Holroyd, died Sunday, May 8, 2016.

Mrs. Karanian graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Class of 1952, from Georgetown Junior College in Washington DC, and later on from Middlesex Community College. She worked her adult life in the health care field, first as a medical secretary, then a transcriptionist, eventually becoming a RHIT. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and of its Ladies Guild. She was a voracious reader who enjoyed doing the daily crossword puzzle and answering all of the questions on Jeopardy.

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Walter Hovanes Karanian, Sr. She is survived by her siblings, Carol Minor of Madison, George Holroyd, Jr. and his wife Brenda of Guilford, and Lisa Champagne and her husband Peter of Gales Ferry. She is also survived by her six children, Henry Karanian (Lee-Ann) Lisa Karanian Schuler both of Newington, Van Karanian of Farmington, Michael Karanian (Sandra) of Newington, Walter Karanian, Jr. (Sarah) of San Francisco, CA and Christopher Karanian (Carson) of Manchester, her grandchildren; Olivia, Ryan, Carson, Emily, Audrey, Campbell, Alyse, Elle, Syndi, Collin, Val, and Brayden, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be celebrated on Thursday, May 12, at 9:00 AM from Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave, Newington, CT 06111, with a 10:00 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial at Church of the Holy Spirit. Rites of Committal will follow the Mass at West Meadow Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at Newington Memorial.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be directed to Georgetown Visitation School, 1524 Thirty-Fifth Street, NW Washington, DC 20007-2785.
