Newington Obituary: Florence Kaliszewski, 96

Florence (Gronowski) Kaliszewski, 96, of Newington, died peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Kaliszewski who died in 1998.

A lifelong Newington resident, Mrs. Kaliszewski was an active member of Sacred Heart Church, New Britain. She was a member and past president of the Sacred Heart Church Ladies Guild and a member of the Council of Catholic Women. She and Frank were devoted members of the church, volunteering their time at a variety of church activities throughout the years. Florence was also a big part of the Sacred Heart Church rectory office for many years. She especially loved spending time working in her yard and in her gardens.

A loving mother, she leaves her daughter Susan M. Kaliszewski of Newington; and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her son David, and eight brothers and sisters.

Her funeral service will begin on Wednesday, April 20, at 10:00 a.m. at the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. She will be laid to rest with her husband and her son in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Wednesday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Burritt Hill.
