Newington Obituary: Frederick Martocchio, Jr., 77

Frederick A. Martocchio, Jr., 77, was called to eternal life on Monday, March 26, 2018 at Newington Rapid Recovery Rehabilitation Center.

Born on July 20, 1940, he was the son of the late Frederick A. Martocchio, Sr. and Rose (Venti) Martocchio. As a longtime Newington resident, he was a communicant of Church of the Holy Spirit, a member of the Knights of Columbus Newington Council #3884, and the Newington Kiwanis Club.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a chef, giving many years of dedicated service. Although cooking was his professional vocation, his true passion was preparing special holiday meals and baked goods for family and friends. Everything he created was always made with the most important ingredient: Love.

Left to honor and cherish his memory are his beloved wife with whom he shared 45 beautiful years of marriage, Rosemarie (Ferriere) Martocchio, his children, Stephen A. Martocchio and his wife Tracy, Marian C. Leist, and Michael J. Martocchio and his wife Kristen, his siblings, James Martocchio and his wife Renee, Donna Apanowich and her husband Mark, and seven grandchildren, Victoria, Kyle, Anthony, Vincent, Francesca, Cecilia, and Angelina.

His life and funeral will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 3, at 9:00 AM from Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial with a 10:00 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial at Church of the Holy Spirit. Rites of Committal will follow the Mass at West Meadow Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call for visitation on Monday, April 2, from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Newington Memorial.
