Newington Obituary: Harriet Kinney, 78

Harriet J. Kinney, 78, widow of the late Francis (Frank) Kinney, of Newington, passed away peacefully, Monday, July 11, 2016, at the Brookdale Assisted Living, in Rocky Hill.

Born in Barkhamsted to the late Carl and Eva (Hortie) Jespersen. She was raised in the Berkshires. Harriet resided in Newington since 1973. Before moving to Newington Harriet worked at Underwood typewriter in Winsted and Hartford.

Harriet was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She leaves her daughter Frances (Kinney) Mitchell and grandson Scott Mitchell, of East Hartford, and her son Jay Kinney and his wife Laura of Chicopee MA., her sister Elna Rodda and her husband Arthur of Hancock, MA., and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Frank, Harriet was predeceased by her son John Carl Kinney, sister Eva J. Klein and brother Carl Jespersen.

The family would like to thank the Brookdale Staff for the loving and tender care of mom and also Masonic Care Hospice team.

Funeral services for Harriet will be at the West Meadow Cemetery Chapel, on Friday, July 15, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest following the service. There are no calling hours.
