Newington Obituary: Josephine Krupa, 95

Josephine G. Krupa, 95, of Newington, died on Friday, September 23, 2016 at her home after a lengthy illness. She was predeceased by Adolph J. Krupa her husband of 55 years.

Josephine was born in West Hartford, daughter of the late John and Anna (Rumak) Guzy.

Josephine was the devoted mother of her two sons, John Krupa of Chula Vista, CA, and Joseph Krupa of Newington, and her daughter, Dorothy Dropick and her husband John Dropick of Edgartown, MA. She was the beloved grandmother of Melanie Krupa-Kelly and her son Sean, Jacquelyn Schmidt and her husband, Kelly, Jennifer Krupa and her husband Adam Grimm, John Dropick and his wife, Melissa, Katharine Dropick, and James Dropick. She leaves nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

After graduating Bulkeley High School Josephine enjoyed working as a telephone operator at Hartford Hospital, and later as a teacher's aide in the Newington School System. A member of St. Mary's Church for approximately 65 years, she taught religious education classes, and was active in the ladies guild. Yet above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who lived a selfless life caring for her family.

She was predeceased by her brothers, Joseph, Martin, Stanley, Michael, Frank, and Ted Guzy, and she was predeceased by her sisters, Sophie G. Borowski, Mary G. Dukett, and Agnes G. Hoffer.

Funeral services for Josephine will begin with calling hours form 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 626 Willard Ave., Newington. She will be lovingly laid to rest next to her husband in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
