Newington Obituary: Judith Gorski, 72

Condolences to her family and friends.

Judith A. Gorski, 72, of Newington and previously of Hebron, passed away on November 23, 2016 under hospice care.

Born on November 17, 1944, in Hartford, Judy was the daughter of the late Burlin and Mary (McKinnon) Goolsby and the wife of the late Chester J. Gorski. Judy graduated from the Hartford Hospital School of Nursing and received her Bachelors in Nursing from the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford. Prior to her retirement, she enjoyed a career dedicated to helping others as a Registered Nurse for over 50 years. Upon completion of her nursing studies in 1965, Judy became the youngest head nurse in the history of Hartford Hospital. A communicant of the Church of the Holy Spirit, she enjoyed reading, knitting, and traveling with her sister and friends.

Judy is survived by her children, Andrew D. Gorski and Mary Ellen Gorski, both of Los Angeles, CA; her sister, Rita Glod and her husband, Joe of Stafford Springs; her sisters-in-law, Catherine Goolsby of Stafford Springs and Patricia Goolsby of Michigan and Virginia; as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and friends. She is also survived by her closest friends, including Barbara Maheu, RN of Bolton, Judy Charneski, RN of Glastonbury, and a group of "old friends" that has been together for many years: Janet Potyra, Bobbie Lane, Betty Jourdan, Lynn Belanger, Joanne Grabek, Christa Berthold, and Erin Blatchley. Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Peter, Al and Frank Goolsby, and her sister Jean Hogan.

Judy is grateful for the wonderful care given by Dr. Steven Borer and Hartford HealthCare.

Funeral services will begin on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 8:45 a.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at the Church of the Holy Spirit at 10:00 a.m. Committal services will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to call on the family on Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Newington Memorial Funeral Home.
