
Lois C. (Ubele) Sprouls, 90, of Newington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 31, 2016. She was the beloved wife of the late George Sprouls, her high school sweetheart, for 50 years.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, daughter of the late Leon and Laura (Strobel) Ubele, she lived in PA, IL and NJ before moving to Old Saybrook in 1977 and then settling in Newington in 1999. She later moved to Avery Heights in Hartford. Lois was employed by Wesleyan University for many years until her retirement. She also worked at Ramapo College in NJ. Music was major part of Lois and George's lives. They met in high school choir and sang in church and professional choirs their entire married life. Later in life Lois joined the exclusive Lois Club!
A loving, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she leaves her son, Glenn Sprouls of Westbrook, her daughter Joyce Schwalenberg and her husband Chet of Newington, and her three grandsons, Derek Schwalenberg and his fiancé Megan Ahern, Keith Schwalenberg and his fiancé Abra Sussman and Ian Schwalenberg. She also leaves two nieces and their families, Liz Davis and Lauren Grant of TX.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 9th at 4:00pm at the Church of Christ Congregational, 1075 Main St., Newington.
